Last night we had the pleasure of attending a party at Salt Spray Farm in Weekapaug. The event was catered by three food trucks and could not have been more fun. What a genius idea. No waste, someone else does the cooking, no clean up! Honestly. Genius. I’ll get to the amazing food in a minute, but can we talk about how completely gorgeous Salt Spray Farm is? Hidden away down a bumpy road we walked down a long secluded driveway which opened up to fabulous grounds. The trees were blooming, the grass is at that vibrant green stage and the sun was just starting to set. The best part is…it is rentable through The Ocean House’s cottage rentals. Perfect for a few families and a great space for kids. Absolutely stunning. The food was so good. Pizza. Corn on the cob. Grilled Cheese. Cupcakes. Does it get any better? We started with pizza. Wood fired from The Rolling Tomato out of Connecticut, this pizza was delicious. It had that crispy thin edge that you can only get with real fire and the most authentic taste. Towards the end of the night they even brought full pizzas into the house for guests to finish up, which, let’s face it, is often the perfect ending to a great night spent outdoors in the crisp air. One of us moved on to Cheesy Street Grill‘s All Star which was goat cheese, fig jam and caramelized onions. Oh. My. God. This was by far (far, far, far) the best grilled cheese sandwich I have ever EVER had. If you like grilled cheese, you need to find this truck. I hear they were just at Brimfield for the antique market and I’m hoping they are back in July for the next one. Antiques and grilled cheese? Yes please. Finally we stopped at Providence’s Fusion Gourmet’s Fu Go. An Asian Latin inspired food truck, we had the grilled fusion corn on the cob with a honey aioli butter and the Korean braised beef taco. Spicy, delicious and unpredictable. The flavors were bold. The Ocean House provided the final stop of the night…the carrot cake cupcake. Ohhh. Who doesn’t want to end the night with something sweet and creamy? It was a fun night and much needed as I’ve been deprived of any adult interaction for the last four weeks since we have moved to this suburban beach town.
