We have, perhaps sadly, become a bit particular when it comes to wine. We used to be able to enjoy a good $10 bottle and had a slew of favorites. Lately that is not the case. We decided to begin to purchase wine less often but to purchase wines that cost a bit more. This is not to say that there are still not some $10 wines that we like…but they have become harder to find.
For Easter dinner my cousins brought along a 2008 bottle of Conundrum. We had never had this wine before but instantly fell in love with it. It is a California white wine which consists of a blend of grapes. With a twist top closure, it makes it easy to enjoy a glass with dinner and save the rest for later, although truthfully, that rarely happens.
The flavors of apricot, honeysuckle, vanilla, lime zest, tropical fruit, peach, pear and melon give this wine a rich, round flavor. We have since purchased it two other times and have enjoyed it equally as much as we did the first time.
Conundrum 2008 runs about 19-25 dollars a bottle.
