This reminded us of our trip to Belgium. Duvel beer has a very distinctive Belgique taste. We find it to be sweet, floral and not overly hoppy like many artisan beers these days. When they make it, after the first brewing fermentation which takes about thirty days, it is then bottled as a single fermented brew. It is mildly yeasty and has an almost citrus flavor. Unlike many Belgique beers, it is by no means heavy. It has a smooth almost bright feel in the mouth.
It was a wonderful accompaniment to this oozy cheese made in Vermont and a few slices of a baguette.
