After spending an exorbitant amount of money on lovely little bundles of herbs at the market, we caved in and built our own raised beds a few years back — having since filled them with a gorgeous selection of herbs of our own, we use them nearly daily in the growing season.
The other day we found this sweet little Boxwood Basil. We love basil but the regular basil plants seem to grow so quickly and get leggy if you don’t use up the scrumptious leaves nearly as quickly as they grow. This little plant will only get to about 1 foot high. The leaves will never grow bigger. They are delicate and adorable at the same time. There is no need to cut the leaves- just add them to whatever you fancy.

We added them to some simple couscous and parmesan for lunch yesterday.

The intense flavor and aroma of basil are not lacking in the little leaves. They added a fabulous taste to this simple lunch and we know it will become an easy go to solution for us on busy days this summer.
