On a hot summer’s night who wants to heat up the house by cooking inside? Not us. We opt to cook on the grill. We also crave easy (sometimes)….and thought what better than a piece of flank steak eaten right off the cutting board? Flank steak is a very tasty but fairly reasonably priced cut of meat. Flavorful. Summery. Perfect.
We began by marinating our steak in a mix of white wine, soy sauce, Chinese five spice, freshly cracked black pepper, a spoonful of honey, a squeeze of lime juice and a good handful of freshly picked herbs from our garden.
After marinating for a couple of hours season with salt and place on a very hot grill with some more thyme from the garden.
Grill for 3-4 minutes each side for a rare steak. Let it rest for about ten minutes.
Slice. Serve. Savor.
