Our house has a lot of history. I often think of all the people that have walked its floors, farmed its land and dreamed out its wavy glass windows. This past week the doorbell rang and on my porch stood a man with a story.
Back in the area for a visit with his family, he wanted to stop by. We talked about the change in the location of the driveway, the road being lower than it originally was and the lovely women that once lived in the space. Two sisters, Anna & Ethel Ostrander. In their own words- an inside sister and an outside sister. His father had done some odd jobs for them. He told me his daughter had a photo of his family in front of our garage standing in front of their ’57 Chevy. He texted me the photo and proceeded to call me with a couple more stories.
I love this about our house. I often get told bits and pieces of information when people learn where I live. If you live in Canandaigua and you have a story about our time capsule I’d love to hear it!
